Meet Our Staff

Barbie Windom, Director 

Barbie has been the ASC Director (formerly the University Tutorial Center) since 2005. She is a graduate of NC State (BS, Physics, ’92, and MS, Operations Research, ’95).  She is a Raleigh native and married to Troy, a Wolfpack engineer. They are currently proud parents of two college undergraduate students.

Wendy VanDellon, Assistant Director

Wendy earned her BA in English from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York; MA in English Rhetoric and Composition from Ohio University; and Ph.D. in Composition from the University of New Hampshire. She has tutored in two different tutoring centers as a writing center assistant, worked with a writing across the curriculum program, taught a variety of classes, and overseen several local publications. Wendy oversees the Undergraduate and Graduate Writing programs. She currently lives in Raleigh with her husband Chad.

Sarah Stokely, SI Coordinator

Sarah is a proud NC State graduate having earned her BS in Applied Mathematics in May 2016 and MS in Mathematics Education in May 2021. She began working as a student for the ASC in January 2013 and since then has served in a variety of roles including academic consultant, peer tutor, SI Leader, peer supervisor, and USC 210 Instructor. Originally from Tennessee, she has lived in the Raleigh area for 8 years and currently oversees the SI and Weekly Group Tutoring programs. In her free time, Sarah enjoys cooking, reading, running, and hiking.

Abbey Berkebile, Tutor Coordinator

Abbey earned her MS in Microbiology and her MA in Higher Ed and Student Affairs from the University of Iowa. Although she never tutored as an undergrad she could often be found helping her friends with chemistry and math. Her first full-time position found her serving as both a professional tutor, SI leader, and academic coach for TRiO Student Support Service at Creighton University. Abbey has been with the ASC since December 2019. In her free time Abbey enjoys swing dancing, teaching herself guitar, traveling, and discovering new hobbies.

Elizabeth Jereb, University Program Associate

Betsy received her BA in Economics and Psychology at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1983. She also earned a Database Management Certificate at Wake Tech Community College in July 2002. She began working for the ASC in September 2004. Betsy and her husband, Rick, have two children, Cameron and Michelle.

Maggy Bell, University Program Associate

Maggy has worked for the ASC since 2019 and has been working on campus in various capacities since 2014. Her husband, Mike, works on campus in the Facilities Division. She is currently working on a distance education degree at ECU. Maggy enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and taking her toddler son to story time at the public library.
