Tutor and Peer Mentor Positions
The Academic Success Center recruits both peer tutors and mentors every semester. Both positions are on-campus, paid opportunities for undergraduate students who enjoy helping their peers be academically successful. The first step in the application process is to attend an information session.
Employment Information Sessions
You will be required to log in with your name and NC State email address in order to attend the Information Session via Zoom. We use this information to send participants a copy of the application at the end of the session.

If you are not able to attend one of the information sessions below, please reach out to academic-success@ncsu.edu prior to the information sessions to make arrangements with our office.
Note: Applicants will not be admitted from the Zoom waiting room if they are more than 5 minutes late to the meeting.

Application Due

We will hold a second round of hiring in late July/early August. Check our website in June for Information session days and times.
Employment Requirements
- Be an enrolled full-time undergraduate student with at least a 3.250 cumulative GPA
- Have completed at least one full semester at NC State by the start of the first semester of employment. Preference given to students who have completed an entire academic year at NC State.
- Be a model student with a desire to help others learn
- Can fit USC 210, a 1-credit hour training course, into your schedule during your first semester of employment
- Work at least 4 hours per week for two consecutive semesters.
- Tutors: Shifts will be scheduled between 9am-6pm Monday-Thursday or 9am-3pm on Friday.
- Mentors: Sessions will occur between 9am-8pm Monday-Thursday or 9am-3pm on Friday.
- Have earned a B+ or higher in the courses you wish to tutor (tutors only)
- Have completed two semesters of college as a full-time students (required for peer mentors, preferred for tutors)
